I am Maria Emrik.

Born and raised in mini country Denmark.

Jazz singer-songwriter, artist, designer, passionate, loving and with the curiosity of a child ;)

What is art?

For me it's about expressing myself and my creativity.

About trying to capture the impressions my senses pick up every day. About translating colours, shapes and ideas into something tangible and understandable, beautiful and/or fun.

But it is also about pushing our habits and beliefs and changing the way we perceive ourselves and the world.

The boundaries between how it usually is and what we are used to - and how it could be and look like.

And of course it's about beauty and aesthetics, interior design and decoration, which is one of my great passions.

 

Another of my great passions is music, and in fact the inspiration comes from the same things as my art.

In addition, I draw impressions and inspiration from the beautiful, wild nature, and from the silence, calmness, cohesion and immersion I find there on my island.
